Electric Contracting

electrical outlet installation
Prior to hiring an electrical contractor, you must plan your project carefully. Walk from room to room, looking at all the walls, floors, and ceilings to ascertain how many electrical sources you will need. Don’t forget to include the ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI) on electrical outlets near any water source, such as those found in bathrooms, spas, and kitchens. Make a diagram so that you can give the electrical contractor an idea of your desired locations for outlets, lighting, and appliances.

Electrical Checklist:

Check for electrical contractors in your area.

Call the contractor and find out how long s/he has been in business – ask for references from past clients.

It is wise to find an electrician who is bonded and insured, licensed and certified. You may ask to see proof of liability insurance coverage, business licenses, tax ID, and bonding. (The Department of Labor and Industry can help you verify these licenses.)
